About Us
At St. John’s Presbyterian Church, our life together is shaped by a simple mission:

Worship God.
Love one another.
Serve the world.
These words guide everything we do, from Sunday worship to the ways we care for one another and our neighbors.
Who We Are
St. John’s is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), a denomination that values thoughtful faith, shared leadership, and community.
We believe the church is not just a place you attend, but a people you belong to. Here, you will find a community that seeks to grow in faith, ask meaningful questions, and support one another through all stages of life.
How We Are Led
As a Presbyterian church, we are governed in a way that reflects both order and shared responsibility.
Leadership is entrusted to:

-
Elders, who guide the spiritual life and direction of the congregation
-
Deacons, who lead ministries of care, compassion, and service
Together, they form a model of leadership that reflects our belief that the church is strongest when many voices are heard.
We also believe wholeheartedly that, in Christ, we are one. Leadership in the church is open to all, and we seek to honor the gifts of every person.
Worship and Music
Worship is at the heart of our life together.
Our services are grounded in scripture, prayer, and the sacraments, and are shaped by a rich musical tradition. Music has long been central to who we are, from congregational hymn singing to choral and instrumental offerings that draw on the depth of the church’s heritage.
Whether through the organ, choir, or special services throughout the year, we believe music helps us encounter the presence of God in a profound way.
A Community That Cares
St. John’s is a place where relationships matter.
We care for one another in times of joy and in times of sorrow, through shared meals, fellowship, and quiet acts of compassion. Our Deacons and members alike are committed to ensuring that no one faces life’s trials alone.
Many who come here speak of the warmth of the community and the friendships that extend beyond Sunday morning.
Serving the World
Our faith calls us outward.
St. John’s is actively engaged in serving our neighbors in Reno and beyond through partnerships with local organizations, hands-on volunteer efforts, and support for national and global missions.
We also open our doors widely. Each week, a variety of groups gather in our building, including support groups, other faith communities, community organizations, and musical ensembles. In this way, our space becomes a shared resource for the wider community.

Finally, our love and concern for our neighbors, especially children, is lived out each day through St. John’s Children’s Center. Through this ministry, we serve Reno families by providing high-quality care and early childhood education in a safe and nurturing environment.

Looking Ahead
We are a church with a rich history and a hopeful future.
We are committed to honoring the traditions that have shaped us while continuing to grow, welcome new people, and find new ways to live out our calling in Reno today.
Whether you are exploring faith for the first time or looking for a church home, you are welcome at St. John’s Presbyterian Church.
