Genes are chemical instructions your body uses to color your eyes, hair and even your skin. You get one set of instructions from your mother and one set from your father. Before you were born, your body combines both sets of instructions and makes YOU.
We're going to see how this works.
Joseph and his brothers had the same father, but three different mothers.
Let start by drawing three circles for heads Joseph and two of his brother.
Joseph's mother will be Mother 1, and Mother 2 and 3 will be for his brothers. Let's start with the skin.
Pick one square from the Father envelope and one from the Mother 1. You will probably get two different colors, use them both. So, might get pink skin, tan skin or a combination of both.
Now, do the same thing for the hair color.
Finally, we'll do the eye color. Eyes are different. You must have two blues squares to have blue eyes. If you have one green eye and one blue, you have green eyes.
See how different your three heads are?
