Mission In Action Committee

Our Christian activity is not limited to our particular congregation but includes the cares and concerns of Christ's whole Church. It is the purpose and responsibility of the Mission in Action Committee to keep members of St. John's informed about the affairs of the Presbytery, Synod, General Assembly, and other vital issues of importance to our Church; and to encourage and enable "hands on" participation in mission outreach in the name of Jesus Christ.

The responsibilities of the Mission in Action Committee include:

• Inform church members of local, national, and ecumenical issues, and develop ministry programs by which St. John's Church can address these issues.
• Organize and implement special events which will highlight the world-wide mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
• Encourage "hands-on" participation in mission outreach, such as Habitat for Humanity, Northern Nevada Food Bank, Committee to Aid Abused Women, and other local mission outreach.
• Recommend annually to the Session the extent of our financial and spiritual support of our Presbyterian Missionaries.
• Convey to the congregation special mission needs as the occasion arises.

Mission In Action meets the fourth Monday of each month (except July) at 7:30 p.m. at the church. We encourage any member of St. John's to become a part of this vital and active committee.
